WHO WE SUPPORT

Find out more about who we support as a church.

BMS World Mission

As a Baptist church we partner with and support the Baptist Missionary Society (BMS). They work among some of the most marginalised and least evangelised people, in some of the most fragile places on earth. Their aim is to bring life in all its fullness through seven key ministries: church, development, education, health, justice, leadership and relief. In particular, each year we support the BMS Stamp Bureau where we donate our used stamps to be sorted and sold to raise funds for BMS.

Foodbank

The local Foodbank was established in 2011, believing that nobody in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. In 2019/20 they gave out an incredible 6900 three-day emergency food supplies. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. We are privileged to be able to offer our building at Balaclava Road on Monday evenings as a Foodbank centre.

Insight

Insight is a Christian Schools Work Trust that has been working in local schools since 1988. Their School Workers are fully qualified teachers available to schools in Kingston and Richmond to teach Christianity in RE lessons, deliver assemblies and collective worship sessions. They also help run 28 Bible clubs and Christian Unions. We are one of 14 local churches that partner with them.

Alpha

Alpha is an multi-week course that creates a space, online or in person, where people are excited to bring their friends for a conversation about faith, life and God, and where they can discuss life’s big questions. Each session looks at a different aspect of our faith and is designed to create a conversation where everyone can share their point of view. Alpha is run all around the globe, including reguarly at Surbiton New Life Baptist Church!

And many others…

We also support a whole range of other charities and projects both locally and around the world including Dnipro Hope Mission (Ukraine), New Generation Youth Center( Romania) ,Kingston Churches Action on Homelessness, Christians Against Poverty, 24/7 Prayer and the Fircroft Trust.
